VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!  Serve Breakfast with So Others Might Eat – Friday, September 30, 2016 (6:30 am – 9:15 am)  71 O Street, NW Washington D.C. 20001.  I’m trying something new for those who have a hard time volunteering on weekends or evenings.  We will be serving breakfast at SOME’s O Street facility (near NoMa Metro Stop).  You’ll be a little late for work that day, but it’s for a good cause!  If you want to join the team, send an e-mail to janae.henderson@ice.dhs.gov

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!  Oct 1st   Service Project with the Mission Continues, Saturday, October 1, 2016 (7:30am-1:00pm), Benning Terrace Recreation Center (4450 G Street SE, Washington, DC 20019)Join us to update the community garden at Benning Terrace. To sign up, go to Mission Continues Benning Terrace Community Garden Build. Be prepared to get dirty and have fun.  Please inform Janae Henderson  if you will be joining the Community Garden Project.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!  Capital Area Food Bank – Saturday, October 8, 2016 (9:00am – 12:00pm)  4900 Puerto Rico Ave NE, Washington DC.  This project typically involves packing and/or sorting donated food. It also can include packing for CAFB programs, and assisting with various other tasks at the food bank. All of these tasks are considered light/medium labor and typically involves standing up for up to three hours and lifting up to 35 pounds. This activity will take place in either our Food Donations Room or Repack Room and the temperatures can fluctuate, so please dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! DC Central KitchenFriday, October 14, 2016 (5:00pm – 8:00pm) Evening Meal Preparation – 425 2nd Street NW Washington, DC 20001.  Meal preparation is their most popular volunteer opportunity. Help DC Central Kitchen’s staff prepare over 5,000 meals each day by cutting, chopping and peeling thousands of pounds of food.  Dress code:  Due to health regulations, volunteers who do not follow this dress code will not be allowed to work in the Kitchen. Volunteers must wear:  Long pants (no pajama pants and no spandex pants please), Closed-toed shoes (no sandals), Tank-tops are not allowed, No exposed midriff.  If you are interesting in joining us, send an e-mail to philip.s.fuller@uscis.dhs.gov.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Martha’s Table – Sunday, October 23, 2016 (10:00 am – 1:00 pm) 2114 14th Street NW Washington, DC 20009.  Food preparation program.  Help to prepare 150 – 250 meals for the nightly, hot meal distribution on McKenna’s Wagon.  If you are interested in joining us, send an e-mail to janae.henderson@ice.dhs.gov
