Young Government Leaders (YGL) and GovLoop present the NextGen Public Service Awards for superior public service and achievement. The 4th Annual NextGen Public Service Awards will be given at the 2014 NextGen Award’s Ceremony, which will kick off the NextGen Training Summit on July 23rd in Washington, DC. Submit your nomination today.

YGL and GovLoop continue to bring together those dedicating their intelligence, exuberance and professional lives to improving and invigorating the public service field. The NextGen Public Service Awards will highlight 15 individuals and 6 groups who are among the cohort of government talent seeking to cut through the red tape holding back efficient and effective governance and public service in the following categories:

NextGen Exemplary Leadership Award – recognizing a public service leader under 40 who has demonstrated benevolence, competence, integrity, dedication, and commitment to improve and inspire our communities at the local, national, or international level. This individual embodies what the Next Generation can do in public service.

NextGen Exemplary Group Award – recognizing a group inside government with a collective age under 40 who have demonstrated benevolence, competence, integrity, dedication, and commitment to improve and inspire our communities at the local, national, or international level. This group embodies what the Next Generation can do in public service.

NextGen Innovator of the Year Award – recognizing a public service leader under 40 who has identified new opportunities and built up the organization with consistent improvement and development of technology in an innovative way at the local, national, or international level.

NextGen Courage Award – recognizing an individual with less than 3 years of public service experience that is blazing the path for their generation in government with courage and determination at the local, national, or international level.

NextGen Positive Impact Group Award – recognizing a group outside government with a collective age under 40 who has made and continues to make impressive positive impact across the nation to improve our communities at the local, national, or international level.

NextGen Silent Hero Award – recognizing a public service leader who has operated behind the scenes, silently working in a dedicated and committed fashion, without the limelight, who has laid the foundation for stellar public service results and community change at the local, national, or international level.

NextGen Advocate Award – recognizing an individual dedicated to cultivating talent, mentoring, and helping to guide NextGen public service leaders to become our future community leaders at the local, national, or international level.

In addition, the NextGen Public Service Awards will recognize great videos or photo clips on the topic of “What Does Next Generation Public Service Mean To You?” If you make it worthwhile, we will share the most patriotic, meaningful or even the funniest at the awards ceremony.

Film your video or photo montage — 3 minutes or less — where you tell us “What Does Next Generation Public Service Mean To You?”. Upload it to YouTube and then Tweet out to @nextgengov with hashtag #NextGenVids the link. If you want, as part of your nomination of someone for a NextGen Public Service Award, you can even work in what they did into your video. Creativity welcomed!
